While it's early it would be nice for the bigger name guys need to start contributing more consistently. They got secondary scoring to start the season, but that's slowed down as expected, and now they're left with no offense.

Philly has been playing Giroux on the wing this year. Seems like they don’t want him at center. Brassard isn’t really a 2C but he’s there and putting up points.

True! Connor Brown, Tim Stutzle still no goals......no offense from the blueline either.

He has played wing a lot the last few years but can easily slide over to center. Brassard's best days are way behind him, but we loved him here during the 2017-18 playoffs.

Right now there are 31 GMs salivating over the glorious opportunity to dump overpaid, under performing veterans on Pierre"Proudest Day of My Life" Dorion in exchange for top picks and prospects.

If whomever they're trying to get rid of happened to have a contract with a team that won the cup in the last twenty years that's good for a first round pick plus top prospects.

Depending on the term left on the contract, Dorion will have to give up more now then he would've this summer!

Which is exactly why you don't do it.

There is no cup run happening here so take a pill and chill. Work with what you've got.

They could've had a quick stop gap with Derek Grant on waivers last week, the Ducks exposed him. But I hear ya!!

Man this team is not at exciting as it should be. They have 1 line with 7-9-19. After that and Chabot - this team is a big F***ing disappointing. GM has to do something here

I liked Karlsson's fiesty interview. "Who gives a poop" - Erik Karlsson!

sens have to make a trade within a week. I need dorion to work those phones until the dial is out🤣
We need to get an early start to a stronger team let's not waste some time and close games that can be won with some tweaks. We have lots of picks. I honestly think we need 3 good trades LW/RW Center and a TOP 4 Dmen. BOESER? GIROUX? Who can we get as top 4 Dmen. Hope zaitsev is bought out or traded early

What an effort in the third period. I was PISSED when the final buzzer sounded and we ran out of time to try to tie it up. Not simply because we lost, but because I really feel we earned it. San Jose did NOT deserve those 2 points. But that’s hockey.

Stützle continues to play like his life depends on it. Lol Yet another game where he could of (should of?) had multiple points, but ends up with little to show on the scoresheet. It will come. It has to…. Right?

Man, reading your blog tonight reminded me of some of the ridiculous trade rumours from months ago. I will be very disappointed if we trade assets for Adam Henrique or Nazem Kadri. HARD pass on both of those guys from me. I think if we’re gonna make a trade, then let’s make a REAL trade and go after a Tomaś Hertl. No more stop gap scrubs.

I also like Trochek, and think he’d be a good fit. You forgot to mention in your blog that he IS a center, he’s just been playing a lot of RW since being traded to Carolina. I believe he was a center 90% of his time in Florida. And I think all of his first year in Carolina, too.

I’m not necessarily saying we should immediately go after a trade. Just that IF we do, then let’s make it a good one.

Check out my update on the Sens possibly putting in a waiver claim on Barre-Boulet.

This is the second time I’ve seen you mention Trocheck as a RW. Dude has literally been the Canes second line Center since he arrived. Also I have no idea why Carolina, a team looking to push for a cup would trade their second line center. Unless Ottawa is sending them something that makes them better now with Trocheck being a part of the package. But I honestly don’t see Ottawa having that magic piece that would make moving him+ worth it. Sure you could argue that he may be an odd man out come free agency(all signs point to him resigning, only question is cap constraints), but when has a team with cup run potential traded players because they’re pending UFAs? And even then to get a top 6 center from a playoff team the cost isn’t going to be picks and prospects. Honestly it’s a move that no matter how I spin it makes zero sense for either team.

The Pinto incident is helpful in understanding that this team can be exciting and underachieving on the same night. So hopeful, yet disappointing. Important not to forget this os a fragile and thin roster. It will get far more robust with time.

Kevin, I had same reaction as you when seeing Alfie in the building. He is one of the few that might be capable of beginning to bridge the enormous gap that divides Melnyk from Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec.

Giroux has a full no move clause and I am not sure he would be willing to waive it to go to a rebuilding team in the final year of his deal.

Sadly it was only Alfy, and friends and family in the building.

Brady's first game.
The return of EK65
Two EX 67's captains....a bunch of reasons that building should have been full-er.
Under 9K.

As far as the on ice product. It wasn't horrible but so many of these sloppy little flip, back, or 2 foot passes that kept getting picked off.

Not sure? There is no chance. It's the equivalent of the blogger blindfolding himself and throwing darts at the board.

Overall, the game was a disappointing effort. Reimer played well as he usually does against the Sens. Stu really needs more talented player to play with. He’s speed and IQ doesn’t match with most of the other forwards right now. Hopefully, the shots start going in for him. Really snake bitten right now.

Will be interesting to see if a move is made (more than a waiver claim) for a forward/centre. There is way to much pressure on Pinto to be a top 2 C when healthy. Seeing him go down, really shows the lack of depth. Especially when you have to write off White for the foreseeable future with his injury.

I just think watching this team that it is years away from contention. They probably should go for and pray they get to select Shane Wright in the draft and then contender 2-3 years from now.

Giroux I could only see coming here in free agency due to living in Ottawa and only if they look close to contention and would only be a as a 3rd or 4rth line center by that time. Kinda like a Spezza in Toronto type thing.

I don't get the logic of the Sens to try and build a boring, Anti-scoring type team and system around "2-way" players and boring coaching when you can't get butts in seats.

The big reason Ottawa was so popular in the early 2000's was due to them trying to build a high flying elite scoring team. Likely if there was no lockout in 2005 (Chara, Redden, Hossa, Alfie, Spezza and Hasek omg) and if they kept Chara over Redden (hindsight) they would have won cups too.

Giroux is eligible for free agency and is probably going to put up 60-70 point this season. He's not a 3rd or 4th line center. He also prefers the wing at this point in his career.

Quite early and they do have the capability to surprise. But i would assume we will be still watching a .500 club in March. It would be a success if they were a few games above. I think the structure is in place now, they just don't have the experience or multiple threats to execute consistent winning.

Imo EK interview was obnoxious. I get it people want to see real answers from players. However curse words are boring ,brainless and offensive to many. There are so many other descriptive words to use. But if this is the trend it will be interesting to watch nhl interviews turn into a sub circuit roller derby dialogue. That interview made me happier then ever he is long gone. Im sure he is a delight to get along with in the dressing room.
